North-Eastern Victoria is widely regarded as the unchallenged capital of fortified wines. Vines came to Rutherglen along with the Gold Rush of the 1850s with the region steeped in colonial history of the late Victorian era. The regions lush rolling hills form the banks of what is known as Victoria’s Riverland, fed from Australia’s mighty Snowy Mountains and Murray River.

      The Macallan Scotch Tasting

Members of the Scottish Heritage Society in Big Canoe  enjoyed The Macallan tasting.

The Macallan 12-Year Double Cask is a well-balanced, smooth, and sweet scotch. It has been crafted with a perfect balance of 100% Sherry seasoned American and European Oak, which creates an excellent marriage of 2 wood types.

The Macallan 12-Year Sherry Oak has matured for a minimum of 12 years in sherry oak casks from Spain. It is considered a classic, full-bodied Single Malt Scotch. Its smooth palate consists of dried fruits, spice, and wood smoke, which will then lead to notes of flowers and sherry on the finish.

Naked Malt Blended Scotch -  first-fill sherry casks 100% Single Malts from The Macallan, Highland Park, & The Glenrothes. Extra-matured in  to create layers of rich & fruity flavor.

        The Scotch Tasting Journey

The Scotch Whisky Journey presented by The Scotch World

          What Guests Say About Us

"The Whiskey Journey was an enjoyable experience. You provided detailed and interesting details of the scotch making process as well as the specific  whiskeys selected for the tastings. Your choice of scotches which can be bought locally was a great idea. Many people were surprised at how chocolate influenced the scotch flavor palette. I receive very favorable comments from participants I saw after the event. Looking forward to your next event". - Bill Melville

“What a treat!  Dirk Ebener’s Scotch Whisky Journey was a delightful experience.  A little education, plus a healthy dose of fellowship, combined with Dirk’s easygoing but obvious expertise made this a journey I will take again and again." - Robert Hopper

"Incredible Scotch Whisky tasting experience! Dirk is engaging and passionate in his presentation of the history of scotch and offered tasting selections that appealed to the novice and whisky connoisseur alike. Extremely professional and enjoyable evening!" - Raymond McFarlane

"We very much enjoyed a recent scotch tasting hosted by Dirk Ebener. After welcoming his guests, Dirk gave a brief overview of the history and production of scotch that included an informative slide show. Each table had been preset with cups, tasting note sheets, and pens, so Dirk was able to efficiently transition to the tasting. As Dirk introduced three different varieties of scotch, his wife Kathy poured the tastings. Dirk then circulated among the guests, eliciting comments about their different taste experiences. The evening ended with dark chocolate paired with the scotch. We definitely would recommend this event!" - Sharon McCoy

          The Scotch Whisky Journey

Lowland - Bothan Single Malt Scotch Bourbon Cask

We hosted 38 guests in June 2022. The event was a great success, with many conversations and experience exchanges. The pairing of scotch whisky with different chocolate cocoa levels (70%, 85%, and 95%) was a memorable experience for many participants.
