Who is behind The Scotch World®?
My name is Dirk Ebener and I am the founder of The Scotch World®. I started the website 'The Scotch World®' to share my passion for scotch and whisky with family and friends worldwide. I wanted them to understand that scotch is a fantastic product with hundreds of years of history and it provides jobs to thousands of families. I also wanted to share why enthusiasts like myself would develop a passion for it. I noticed that it could be difficult for enthusiasts and consumers to find a website that educates about the scotch and whisky industry, introduces easy-to-find and affordable scotch recommendations, lists events and festivals worldwide, and provides a summary of industry news.
Where is The Scotch World® located?
The Scotch World® is located in the beautiful North Georgia mountains about two hours north of Atlanta with plenty of nature around. I will continue to travel in North America and around the world to learn, taste, and enjoy a great selection of Scotch and Whisky.

When I launched this website in March 2020, I just planned to share my passion with family and friends. Little did I know that the website would reach people in over 90 countries, over 1,200 cities and on five continents in four years. We will continue to inform our audience with news and insights about our industry.

The Scotch & Whisky Experience
What is my experience with Scotch and Whisky?
Over the last 30 years, I had numerous opportunities to travel the world and learn about food, drinks, desserts, and cultural importance in the world of food and beverages. Understanding and respecting the country’s food and beverage culture is critical.
I started my journey with a Glenfiddich 18 year and fortunately I was able to enjoy scotch, whisk(e)y, and bourbon all over the world. The business dinners and after hour receptions in China let me enjoy Johnny Walker Red and Black label, Glenlivet, and Aberlour. A lunch and cocktail reception in India introduced me to Paul John Single Malt and Amrut Peated Single Malt. I've watched as spirits continue to increase their market share. Irish whiskey is the fastest growing spirits segment in the US market as it has seen almost 15% growth over the last five years.

Pub Tours with The Scotch World®
There are over 3,500 pubs in London. According to the House of Commons Library and the British Beer and Pub Association (BBPA), there were 47,200 pubs in the UK in 2019. The information states that 23,400 of these pubs were independent, 13,900 were owned by Pub Companies, and 9,900 were owned by breweries. From 2019 to 2020, London had a 1.1% increase in pubs. Yorkshire and the Humber and Wales also saw increases in their number of pubs.
